Things to Do in Ireland

Our concierge team are on hand to organise a wide range of country pursuits and signature Irish experiences on land, river or sea.

Walks & Rides

Lismore sits within easy reach of some of Ireland’s most spectacular coastal and countryside walking and horseback riding. St. Declan’s Way, an ancient trail, takes hikers from Lismore to the Ardmore Coastline. There you will find ancient towers, shipwrecks and friendly coastal villages. The Ardmore Heritage Coastal Walk is a gentler walk, taking in breath taking views, a shipwreck and look-out posts from the Napoleonic wars.

Sea and Land

For those who prefer to be on the water, we can arrange fly fishing for salmon on the River Blackwater, coastal boat trips and deep sea fishing as well as kayaking and paddle boarding.

We can also arrange clay pigeon shooting and archery experiences, rock climbing, abseiling, and even rally car driving.

World Class Golf

Ireland is famous for its Links and Championship golf courses, including the nearby Old Head Links Golf Course at Kinsale.  Set on a headland that is almost an island, it’s one of the most picturesque courses in Ireland.  The Gold Coast Championship Parkland Course has unrivalled views of Dungarven Bay and the Irish Sea, and it’s worth walking the course purely for the scenery. The mature tree-lined fairways laid out in 1939 were cleverly mingled in the 1990s with long and challenging newer holes.

Traditional Music

Ireland is famed for its traditional music, and the team at Lismore are happy to arrange evenings of traditional Irish music and dance, whether guests prefer to enjoy it in the castle or at the local pub.

Please allow me to gush just a bit about our experience at The Hall at Bolton Abbey.  Everything was so beautifully done from the flower arrangements and gracious staff to the exquisite gardens and fabulous cuisine.  Our rooms were inviting and clean as a whistle.  The Hall felt so inviting and personal, as if we were guests of the Duke and Duchess ourselves.  The special touches of snacks and a letter of introduction brought the experience to an entirely new level.  We are grateful beyond measure for the memories made with dear friends at your pastoral Yorkshire retreat.

Again, thank you for everything you did to make our five nights at The Hall feel like a fairytale with a very happy ending!

An absolutely perfect few days. Thank you very much for the wonderful hospitality. Nothing was too much trouble. Wonderful!

Such a fabulous place with lovely staff. We have been so spoilt. Thank you.

You offered the Castle as our home and then made us feel welcome enough to believe it. All of the staff at the Castle could not have been more welcoming and accommodating. Our wishes were not only fulfilled but anticipated. Denis was wonderful to work with us as were Sean and Leonard. Everyone who was there to help could not have done more to make us all so happy. It was a week full of joyous memories and I thank you all.
